The May 14, 2012 issue of People
Is the magazine People really a magazine about people? No,no it’s not. It’s more about the people who should never be written about in a magazine. Now let me be honest here, my goal is not to belittle the journalistic integrity of the individuals who write for People Magazine but to really call out the stories that are printed in this so-called magazine.
So let me begin,
Page 26; LINDSAY“S PRE-D.C. DAYS- A nice little chronological day-in-the life of Ms. Lohan from April 18, 24, 25, 27. I don’t know if it’s just shameful that People still find Ms. Lohan interesting. Ms. Lohan’s last ”good” movie, Mean Girls was in 2004 and now all we have here is eight years of People writing about her train wreck of a life. I guess this constitutes as scoop?
Page 32; Life of an A-List Toy- People’s second favorite thing to do is spread pictures of movie stars children. In this case it’s Suri Cruise who I might add is only 6 years of age. A whole page dedicated to Suri’s favorite toy and we care why?
Page 65; My Marriage Comes First- Khloe Kardashian Odum tells the world she’s putting her show on ice to save her marriage and Charlotte Triggs brings us the top -notch story. It’s once again a story of a Kardashian looking for more face time. The best part, People puts two Kardashian’s in this month’s issue.
Page 68-69; Princess Kate, Fashion Plate- People continues their infactuation of Kate Middleton.
Page 82; Her Fight to Get Better- Thank god Demi Moore had a breakdown because other than this story she would be no story and thank god Michelle Tauber, Elizabeth Leonard, Pernilla Cedenheim, Oliver Jones and Aili Nashas, Sara Hammel and Linda Marx were able to put their heads together to bring us this earth shattering update.
Page 125; Kris, Kendall and Kylie Jenner- My favorite thus far. Kris Jenner is called a “star mom” A star mom of what? Exploiting herself and every child she has. Yes, star mom indeed. Not really.
Page 107; THE CROSSWORD PUZZLE- This by far is the best page in People Magazine.
So what is People Magazine’s angle? To sell crap to people? I think so and I know their doing something right because people keep paying for it. I have yet to come in contact with anyone who is interested in hearing about the people I mentioned above but yet these people continue to cover their magazine. Don’t believe me. Read my blog again to see what some of my favorite stories are in the next issue of People and I bet one of the names you read will be brought up again by me.
